Girl in the Woods

What is Wilder Rest Therapy?

Wilder Rest Therapy supports people living with burnout and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME) to slow down, understand what’s really going on underneath, and build a calmer, more sustainable way of living.

My work combines professional counselling with a deep understanding of the body , how it responds to stress, overwhelm, and exhaustion. It’s a space to explore both the psychological and physical sides of fatigue, helping you reconnect with yourself in a grounded, practical way.

Who do you work with?

I work with adults who are experiencing burnout, chronic fatigue, or long-term exhaustion that isn’t improving through rest alone. Many of my clients have spent years pushing through, often high-achieving, caring, and capable people who suddenly find their body saying 'no more'.

I also support those who’ve lived with CFS/ME for some time and want a therapeutic space that understands both the physical and emotional realities of the condition.

Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?

No. You don’t need a formal diagnosis of CFS/ME or burnout to start therapy. If you’re experiencing deep fatigue, overwhelm, or a sense that your body can’t keep up anymore, you’re welcome here.

What matters is that you’re ready to slow down, look gently underneath what’s happening, and begin creating a life that supports your needs, not one that pushes you beyond them.

What happens in a session?

Sessions are calm, reflective, and always led at your pace. We talk about what’s going on for you - physically, emotionally, and practically. Sometimes that means exploring old patterns or beliefs that keep you stuck in overdoing. Other times, it’s about day-to-day strategies for rest, energy management, or boundary setting.

It’s simply a space for you to be real, to listen to your body, and to feel supported as you grow into a new way of living.

Do you work online or in person?

I work online across the UK and in person (if local) in settings that reflect the Wilder Rest ethos - calm, natural, and supportive of slowing down.

Sessions can take place outdoors, bringing in the grounding influence of being in nature.

How long will I need therapy for?

There’s no fixed timeline. Some people work with me short-term for a few months to regain clarity and steadiness; others stay longer as they rebuild their energy and confidence.

Recovery from burnout or CFS/ME isn’t linear. What matters most is that we go at a pace that supports your nervous system and honours your body’s limits. We review regularly to make sure the work still feels helpful and aligned with your needs.

Is Wilder Rest Therapy a medical service?

No. I’m a trained therapist, not a medical practitioner. My work complements but does not replace any medical advice or treatment.

If you’re under the care of a GP, specialist, or fatigue clinic, I can work alongside that support to help you manage the emotional, psychological, and lifestyle aspects of your recovery.

Do you offer advice or treatment plans?

Not in a prescriptive sense. I don’t give medical or diagnostic advice, but I do help you build a practical and therapeutic framework for living well within your current energy.

Together, we might look at your daily structure, how you rest, how you respond to stress, and how you communicate your limits to others. The aim isn’t to give you another “plan” to stick to - it’s to help you tune in to what your body is already telling you.

What does ‘Wilder Rest’ mean?

“Wilder Rest” represents the return to something more instinctive and human, a rest that’s not just about stopping, but about coming home to the body, the seasons, and the truth of what we need.

It’s about stepping away from the noise of modern life, the pressure to be constantly “on,” and remembering that rest isn’t indulgent — it’s essential.

Do you work with people who are still working or caring for others?

Yes. Many of my clients can’t just stop everything, they’re parents, carers, or professionals trying to navigate life with limited energy.

Our work focuses on realistic rest - finding ways to support your body even within ongoing responsibilities. It’s about creating micro-moments of regulation, adjusting expectations, and gently rethinking what productivity means in your current season.

How do I start therapy with you?

You can book an initial session directly through my website or contact me via email. The first session is a relaxed space to talk about what’s been happening for you and to see if we’re a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

Session fees and availability are listed on my website. If you have any questions or need flexibility due to limited income during illness, please feel free to ask — I’ll always be honest and transparent about what’s possible.

Can therapy really help with something so physical?

Yes — when therapy is approached with a real understanding of the body. While I can’t change medical symptoms directly, therapy can help you work with your body rather than against it.

Many clients find that when they start understanding their stress responses, boundaries, and emotional load, their system begins to calm. This can lead to better pacing, less overwhelm, and more consistent energy - small but meaningful shifts that make daily life easier.
